Our goal is to first and foremost bring honor and glory to our Lord, Jesus Christ through songs of worship. We would love to bring the message of God’s love, words of encouragement, exhortation, hope, faith and love to all we minister, who enter our doors.
We also maintain a long tradition of musical excellence in every facet of our church’s music ministry. Through the various opportunities of service in the music department, Asbury continually facilitates Christian devotion through music.

Youth & Adult Opportunities
THE CHANCEL CHOIR
The Chancel Choir is a non-audition choir that sings from mid-August until the following July in the 8:30 am & 10:45 am Sanctuary worship services. Rehearsal is on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00 pm in the Choir Room. All are welcome.
LAUNCH TEAM
Youth & adults may also participate in the LAUNCH Praise Team, either as singers or instrumentalists. This group serves throughout the year for the LAUNCH Service at 10:45 am in the Wilson Activity Center.
SPECIAL PERFORMANCES
Both the LAUNCH singers & Chancel Choir combine at Easter for special music celebrations. They will also combine for special choral concerts.
ASBURY RINGERS
Asbury UMC is very proud of our Handbell choir. This group of handbell ringers is open to all youth & adults who do & do not read music! This group meets at 5:30 on Wednesday nights in the handbell room. Asbury Ringers play throughout the year & ring in all our services. Asbury UMC has 5 octaves of Schulmerich bells, chimes & plates.
ENSEMBLE RINGERS
Asbury has an ensemble that plays 4 or 5 times a year that is mostly made of members of the Asbury ringers. This Group is open to youth & young adults who do & do not read music! Asbury has had solos, duets, quartets, & other ensembles participate in worship.
Children’s Music
CHILDREN’S CHOIRS
The children’s music ministry group, the JOY Choir, meets on Sunday mornings in the Starry Night Room at 9:45 am!
Music is an important part of Christian education because we believe in teaching the whole child. What is the whole child, you might wonder? Ministering to the whole child includes purposeful activities that foster spiritual growth, cognitive learning, physical movement, handwork, & engagement with nature & community. Music helps children develop into adults who are intellectually & spiritually active, competent, empathetic, kind, fair, creative, curious, self-disciplined, goal oriented, confident, cared for and valued.
It is our prayer and hope that what we proclaim through music here at Asbury will serve as a channel of blessing to all who search for God and His truth, and as a healing balm to a hurting world.
