AARP Driver Course

The AARP will conduct a four-hour program for any driver over the age of 50. It will be limited to the first 20 that sign up to attend. It will be held in the conference room on the first floor of the administrative building (back door entrance) at Asbury United Methodist Church and will begin promptly at 8:00am on Friday, July 22 and will be completed by noon. We will have a formal instructional program along with professional made video’s and open discussion about todays’ complications of driving and other important information including important Arkansas laws as it pertains to driving. It is open to anyone and is sponsored by the AARP. Attendance for all 4 hours is mandatory and existing AARP members must pay a $20.00 fee to include what will be needed in the classroom. If you are not a member, you may still attend but at a non-member rate of $25.00. Checks and cash will be collected upon arrival and you are requested to be in attendance no later than 7:45am to start on time.

At the conclusion of the class, you will be issued a certificate that you can send to your automobile insurance company for typically a 10% discount on your next insurance renewal. The certificate will allow you to continue receiving the discount for three years when it must be renewed.

You will need to bring your AARP card (if member), Driver’s License, and check or cash only. Your instructor will be Bob Ideker, a member of Asbury UMC as well as the State Coordinator for the program.

Come early, find a good seat and see/make new friends.

We don’t teach you how to drive and this program cannot be used to satisfy any court-ordered program but is a great way to see and hear new car features, how the features are used along with other vital information. This is NOT a promotion for car purchases but more of a defensive driving type program.
