MUSIC — Welcome

"The aim and final reason for all music should be nothing else but the glory of God and the refreshment of the spirit."
– J.S. Bach

Here at Asbury our goal in the music ministry department is to first and foremost bring honor and glory to our Lord, Jesus Christ through songs of worship, bringing the message of God’s love, words of encouragement, exhortation, hope, faith and love to all we minister, who enter our doors; while maintaining a long tradition of musical excellence in every facet of our church’s music ministry.  Through the various opportunities of service in the music department, Asbury continually facilitates Christian devotion through choral, instrumental, and liturgical movement (worship dance).

No matter what one’s gifts and talents may be, there is a place for any and all who desire to serve and participate in the music ministry here at AUMC.  Our choral music ministry offers open membership to all ages for children, youth and adults in vocal choirs, praise teams/bands, handbell choirs, as well as expression of worship to our God through liturgical movement.  Our music ministry is organized in such a way that is conducive for many of our interested youth and adults to be involved in more than one area of service such as singing in the chancel choir and in one of the praise teams.

Another facet of Asbury’s music ministry as a tool of evangelism is the presentation of special programs which include all high seasons, Christmas, Easter, and other special worship services/occasions that call for additional special music by the combined efforts of all choral and instrumental groups.

In short, it is our prayer and hope that what we proclaim through music here at Asbury will serve as a channel of blessing to all who search for God and His truth, and as a healing balm to a hurting world.

“Sing for joy in the Lord, O you righteous ones; praise is becoming to the upright.  Give thanks to the Lord with the lyre; sing praises to Him with a harp of ten strings.  Sing to Him a new song; play skillfully with a shout of joy.”  Psalm 33:1-3
