The chancel choir serves as an integral part of musical leadership during the traditional worship services (8:30 and 10:45 a.m.) in the sanctuary at AUMC. The choir maintains a unique variety of musical styles ranging from classical to semi-contemporary as well as maintaining a high standard of quality and musical excellence. They provide special music through choral anthems, call to prayer, and during other appropriate times of the worship service. They also provide special musical presentations during the high season times, Christmas, Easter and other various musical events hosted by Asbury. Membership is open to all adults who desire to praise the Lord in song and worship to the glory of God. Childcare is provided at the church during rehearsal times.
The Celebration band and singers provides musical leadership during the contemporary worship service (10:45 a.m.) located in the Wilson Activity Center (WAC) at Asbury. They provide special music for other various occasions hosted by Asbury. The band consists of both vocalists and instrumentalists including, keyboard, guitars (bass, lead, acoustic), and percussion.
The Adult Chancel Handbell Ringers of AUMC is a featured group of instrumentalists who provide special music in various worship services throughout the year. They also participate in combined musical presentations with all choral and instrumental groups during the high season times, Christmas and Easter. They also provide concert/special music for various holiday performances in the Little Rock community.
The group consists of approximately 10-12 ringers. However, there is always room for more. This area of music ministry is open to any and all interested adults and senior high youth. Even though many of the current members have ringing experience and knowledge of music, new members are welcome and are not required to have prior music reading knowledge. Part of worshiping God through handbell music experience is the process of learning all that is necessary in terms of technique and artistic ability during rehearsals for the sake of musical excellence and most of all God’s glory. During the summers, there are no rehearsals. Practices start back up around Labor Day in September.
Children’s Choir, age 3- 2nd grade, will meet on Sunday mornings from 9:30-9:50 am in the Starry Night Room (210). After choir, children will be dismissed to Sunday School.
