CHILDREN — Programs
Nursery
Sunday 8:15am – noon, and on request for other events
Our nursery opens the door to Christian learning through the dedicated
efforts of our trained staff. Care for children under 3 years of
age is provided for all church activities and is located in rooms
filled with Christian music, toys, and love. Our nursery Coordinator
and staff is First Aid/CPR certified. Parents are provided with
individual beepers so they may relax and enjoy worship or Bible
Study, knowing they will be called immediately if their child needs
them.
Infant Room
A secure, safe, and clean environment waits for infants and babies
under walking age. Babies are read to, sang to, and held with Christian
love. Nursing mothers are provided rockers, and are welcome to make
visits as often as necessary.
TODDLER ONE'S
Walkers up to the age of two enjoy a colorful, spacious Noah’s
Ark environment, with room to run and explore God’s world.
Children hear Bible stories individually or in small groups, sing,
laugh, learn to develop trust, and are reassured often how much
God loves them!
TODDLER
TWO'S
Toddler Two's experience care in an environment
filled with early learning activities. Listen to stories of Jesus
under the storytree, sing, and play in a Godly way.
STEPPING STONES
Sunday 9:15– 10:05am
Child-centered Sunday morning classes for Early Childhood,
ages two through Kindergarten, are grouped by age and focus on the
whole child. Asbury offers learning centers for the exploration
and discovery of beginning Bible concepts. Bible-based lessons are
pre-planned with fun activities, and a time for recall. Recall is
a special time for the children to reflect back to the teachers
what they have learned that morning. Giving children time to reflect
their learning is a most important step that is often overlooked
in Christian education. Recall can be done in many different and
creative ways from picture journaling to vocal recordings of children’s
thoughts. As the children follow the lead of their teacher, they
sing, dance, laugh, listen to stories of Jesus, pray, and experience
simple hands-on activities that enable them to see God’s world
through the eyes of a child.
KIDS' CLUB
Sunday, Chapel
At the appointed time during all worship services, parents may choose for their children, age three through second grade, to be escorted by our staff to Kids' Club in the Chapel. There they experience the morning sermon through age appropriate activities that help them better understand God's message. There is NO Kids' Club on Communion Sundays so children may worship and receive communion with their families.
ACCDC: Asbury Christian
Child Development Center
Life at Asbury is enriched and blessed by the many children who
fill its halls. One program that brings children to the church during
the week is the ACCDC. The Center offers a Pre-School for ages 22
months to 5 years, including a Transitional Kindergarten class.
There is also a CHILDREN'S DAY OUT for children 15 –21 months.
The Center strives to create a positive Christian environment where
emphasis is placed on meeting the emotional, intellectual, physical,
and social needs of each individual child.
ACCDC is unique in that we offer a ratio of 12 children to 2 teachers
throughout our Center. This enables the staff to give each child
the personal attention they need and individual instruction that
makes the program so beneficial to each child.
Our Transitional Kindergarten class offers a much needed service to children
turning five by January 1. This class addresses the needs of children missing
the cut off date for Kindergarten. It also benefits children needing added
instruction to be proficient in skills required for Kindergarten. These skills
are evaluated twice a year and helps target those skills needing improvement.
Creative Movement class is offered once each week to develop large
motor skills. Music is another weekly class that helps add variety
to the child’s day and learning experience. Other features
are special visitors in the classroom including dentists, firemen,
policemen and more.
We are proud of the fact that many of the teachers have been here
five years or more out of the eighteen years we have been open. We
feel this adds to the continuity of our program. Children returning
year after year see many familiar faces. This enables the staff
to work more as a unit. Each of our teachers are CPR trained and
are required to have at least 15 hours of Early Childhood training
each year.
We currently offer two, three, or five morning classes. Our hours
are 8:30-11:30 am with an optional afternoon from 11:30-3:00 pm.
Our main school year runs from September through May. In the summer
we offer a Summer Camp during the months of June and July.
