Life at Asbury is enriched and blessed by the many children who fill its halls. One program which brings children to the church during the week is the Asbury Christian Child Development Center. The Center offers a Pre-School for ages toddler to 5 years, including a Transitional Kindergarten class. The Center strives to create a positive Christian environment where emphasis is placed on meeting the emotional, intellectual, physical, and social needs of each individual child. ACCDC is unique in that we offer a ratio of 12 children to 2 teachers throughout our Center. This enables the staff to give each child the personal attention they need and individual instruction that makes the program so beneficial to each child.
Our Transitional Kindergarten class offers a much needed service to children turning five by January 1. This class addresses the needs of children missing the cut off date for Kindergarten. It also benefits children needing added instruction to be proficient in skills required for Kindergarten. These skills are evaluated twice a year. Individual help target those skills needing improvement.
Creative Movement class is offered once each week to develop large motor skills. Music/Storytelling, Art, Math & Science is another weekly class that helps add variety to the child’s day and learning experience. Other features are special visitors in the classroom including dentists, firemen, policemen and more.
We are proud of the fact that many of the teachers have been here five years or more out of the twenty five+ years we have been open. We feel this adds to the continuity of our program. Children returning year after year see many familiar faces. This enables the staff to work more as a unit. Each of our teachers are CPR and First aid trained and are required to have at least 15 hours of Early Childhood training each year.
We currently offer two, three, or five morning classes. Our hours are 8:30-11:30 am with an optional afternoon program from 11:30-3:00 pm. Our main school year runs from September through May. In the summer we offer a Summer Camp during the months of June and July.
Your children will love the Mighty River flowing through the hallways of ACCDC! For a tour of the ACCDC rooms, click here for the 2nd floor of the building map and see the outer rooms starting with room 214.
