United Women in Faith

United Methodist Women is an organization within the United Methodist Church in which we participate at Asbury. As the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 women, our “mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders, and advocating for justice.” If you are a woman and would like to be a part of one of our circles, contact the church office. A circle is a group of women who gather on a regular basis to to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Come join us as we seek to make God’s love known in the world.

There are currently two circles:

  • Rebekah Circle – This circle focuses on outreach missions, especially those that impact women and children, our unsheltered neighbors, and those who are hungry. We meet monthly on the fourth Thursday at 6 p.m. in the Asbury kitchen. Our recent projects have included making sack meals for The VAN, helping to stock and organize the Asbury Food Pantry, assisting with special needs of our Children’s division, and providing gifts and necessities to children and teens in the care of Methodist Family Health. We welcome women of all ages who are looking for hands on mission opportunities. For more information, contact Ginny Kurrus at 501-416-8241 or ginny.kurrus@gmail.com.
  • Mary Circle – Second Monday at 10:30 a.m., Parlor The ages of this Circle’s members range from the 40’s to the 70’s and are married, single, mothers, and even some grandmothers. Each month’s program is presented by a member and ranges from theology to self improvement to social issues. Mission projects include serving at the Soup Kitchen at First Presbyterian on the fifth Thursday of the month, making baby blankets for the Medical Center throughout the year and collecting items for Conference Mission and Outreach.

Family Life Events

Family Life Events are events that are open to the entire congregation and our community.  They are opportunities to enjoy some fun and fellowship.  We will have several events throughout the year.  Check out our calendar for the next Family Life event and join us.  It is a great way to meet people and get connected.
