Adult Ministry

Other Opportunities

Keenagers

Keenagers is an older adult ministry of Asbury which meets the first Tuesday of every month at Asbury (except January and August). Each Tuesday, we gather for lunch, fellowship, and a program. Keenagers typically consists of a luncheon along with a program of some kind. Some programs in the past have included: the Central High school Jazz Band, Gospel singers, Bingo, Estate planning, etc. The cost of the lunch is $7. If you would like to know more, please contact us.

United Methodist Women

United Methodist Women is an organization within the United Methodist Church in which we participate at Asbury. As the largest denominational faith organization for women with approximately 800,000 women, our “mission is fostering spiritual growth, developing leaders, and advocating for justice.” If you are a woman and would like to be a part of one of our circles, contact the church office. A circle is a group of women who gather on a regular basis to to know God and to experience freedom as whole persons through Jesus Christ; to develop a creative, supportive fellowship; and to expand concepts of mission through participation in the global ministries of the church. Come join us as we seek to make God’s love known in the world.

There are currently two circles:

  • Rebekah Circle –  Third Saturday in the mornings, in members homes. (Does not meet in June, July or August) The ages of this Circle’s members range from the 30’s to the 60’s, single women, young marrieds with children, as well as grandmothers. This program format consists of studying books on life, self help and women of the Bible. Mission projects include supporting a family or a foster child at Christmas to collecting items for Conference Mission and Outreach.  Contact the office for more information.
  • Mary Circle – Second Monday at 10:30 a.m., Parlor The ages of this Circle’s members range from the 40’s to the 70’s and are married, single, mothers, and even some grandmothers. Each month’s program is presented by a member and ranges from theology to self improvement to social issues. Mission projects include serving at the Soup Kitchen at First Presbyterian on the fifth Thursday of the month, making baby blankets for the Medical Center throughout the year and collecting items for Conference Mission and Outreach.

Family Life Events

Family Life Events are events that are open to the entire congregation and our community.  They are opportunities to enjoy some fun and fellowship.  We will have several events throughout the year.  Check out our calendar for the next Family Life event and join us.  It is a great way to meet people and get connected.
