Asbury Youth’s Endless Summer!

endless-summerAsbury UMC Youth are getting geared up for another GREAT summer! We will be participating in Junior and Senior High Assembly, which will be held at Hendrix College on July 25-29. Assembly focuses on Spiritual Growth through small groups, and the youth will also participate in worship, games, and missions.

We are also taking a group to Ozark Mission Project in Mountain View, AR, on June 19-25. Our team will be commissioned in the 10:45 Celebration Service on June 12! We ask for prayers from the congregation as these students and adults act as the hands and feet of Christ to our neighbors who are in need of minor home repairs.

Finally, we will be taking a trip to Shepherd of the Ozarks camp in Harriet, AR, on July 9-12. This will be a time of bonding and learning for just our group, as we participate in Worship, float the Buffalo River, go horseback riding, and participate in a High Ropes Course!

In addition to our trips, we will also spend some time serving around home. The youth are exciting about helping with Vacation Bible School, and we also have several Service and a Cinema projects scheduled throughout the summer. This year’s service projects include Habitat for Humanity, making cookies and treats for local hospice/cancer clinics, and working with the Arkansas Food Bank.

We will continue to meet on Sunday nights, from 5:30-7:30, where will be studying the book of Colossians. During Sunday School, we will be starting a series on some of the major heroes of the Old Testament. Sunday School meets at 9:45 in the Warehouse!

We’ve also got a few other fellowship events planned, such as a day at Magic Springs and an end-of-summer lock-in! If you know a youth (grades 6-12) who is looking for something to do this summer, send them our way! We can definitely keep them busy as we go and grow this summer!
