Did you know that any age can be in ministry? Asbury hosted Destination Mission, Conference Children’s Mission trip, last week for the beginning of Spring Break. We had 40 children and adults here from 6 churches from throughout Arkansas. But what is so exciting about these children is that they are 3rd – 6th graders! Asbury UMC had a great group of children that attended: Shaun Burks, Madeline Carver, Van Carver, Miles Harward, Ryan O’Banion, Emily Ross, Chris Byrd and Laura Stinnett.
On Monday, the mission projects were to sort and hang clothes for the Call Mall along with building above ground planters for the ACCDC. On Tuesday, the projects were to finish the clothes at the Call Mall and help make homeless kits for St. James UMC Food Pantry. Then on Tuesday afternoon, we all went to the Arkansas Conference Office. We were greeted by Dede Roberts and Maxine Allen who shared with us what the Conference office does and then we got to take a tour of the offices. The best part was to see the Bishop’s office!
Overall we had a great week and learned that we can do ministry right in our backyards with not needing any financial resources. Below are some pictures of our group working on their projects and visiting the Conference office.
