1 in 4 children in Arkansas faces hunger.
Two years ago, Asbury made a commitment to partner with Arkansas Rice Depot to help eradicate childhood hunger in Arkansas. This past June, the Arkansas Conference of the United Methodist Church made the eradication of childhood hunger a major priority. In keeping with that resolution Asbury joins with the conference effort and will participate in the Rice Depot backpack program again this year. This program provides new backpacks and “kid-friendly” ready-to-eat food to participating schools at no cost to the school. The school’s program sponsor tailors each backpack to the specific student and any siblings in the home that also need food. The cost to sponsor a school for an entire year is just $2,400.00. We will be selling bricks to “build” the school for $10.00 starting August 3.
The statistics are staggering and heart breaking – no child should be hungry!!
Thanks for caring.
